Partyzeit - Hong Kong's Answer to the Pussycat Dolls

We recently took a pre-dinner stroll on the waterfront promenade (aka - the Avenue of the Stars). Along the way, we spotted a group of local musicians. While we couldn't understand the music, they were clearly middle-aged, very fashion-forward and unaware of their own hilarity. Unfortunately, these pictures don't truly capture the ridiculousness but rest assured, crazy is alive and well in HK.

It's Off to See the Nunnery

The Chi Lin Nunnery was founded in the 1930s and reconstructed in the 1990s. It is quite the oasis of peacefulness in an otherwise hectic place. We went on the weekend celebrating Buddhas birthday (a.k.a. the Queen's birthday) so there were quite a few visitors. The nuns all have shaved heads, wear lose grey robes, and ear pieces. We weren't able to figure out the significance of the ear pieces unless they were to allow them to hear each other chant.

Can You Figure Out What is Wrong with this Picture?

This "young man" is the protagonist in an upcoming HK film - it appears however, that he can't carry the role without the addition of CG chest hair!!! EWWWWW!

Checking Out Plover Cove and the Bride's Pool

So we recently bought a hiking book so we could better explore the more natural sides of HK. Our first hike was to Plover Cove, created by blocking a sea inlet and and replacing the water with fresh water.

We actually spent about 2.5 hours hiking, most of it up up up through the Pat Sin Leng Nature Trail.

But we saw some lovely trees and streams along the way.

We also saw the Bride's Pool. As the story goes, bride was being carried to her new husband in a sedan chair when one of the bearers slipped on the rocks. Both sedan and bride fell to their deaths. Not a very happy story but quite a pretty spot.
