Never Ending Sports Fever

As you may have realized, this town cannot get enough of the Olympics . . . even if there is no actual nexus to the games. We came across Robot Summer Sports Day, combining sports with the other all time fav, the panda. This was apparently just a competition for robots but obviously, the sports/panda angle was played up. Go for the Gold PandaBoy!

Linus Shout Out

That's right - we went to Snoopy World . . . granted, we were a little bit older than the other children, but Umanling's Baby Brother (UBB) lent some legitimacy . . . too bad he forgot to shave!

2008: Let the Madness begin....

We took a quick ride over to Sha Tin whereabouts the Olympic Equestrian events are being held.... in addition to the racetrack there is a huge mall there!!! And we were not disappointed as there was a lively show featuring both live action FUWA (the olympic mascots) as well as olympic-flavored dragons!

Ocean Park

Facing another idle Sunday afternoon, we opted to confront the humidity and visit Ocean Park, a combination zoo, aquarium, amusement park and carnival. Oh, and cause it is located on a cliff overlooking the sea, the views ain't so bad either . . .

Here's some of the fun!

Corny!

Lazy Freakin' Panda

Did we mention the cable cars?

Fun at the Aquarium

Aviary - somehow the pics don't capture the fear of being pooped on . . .

And all the official fun!!

Tai Tam Country Park

We recently went on a hike from the north side of HK Island (from a neighborhood known as Quarry Bay) to the south side of the island in Stanley, where the beaches are located. Along the path are several reservoirs created by the Brits approximately 110 years ago. While we managed to get slightly lost and took a 6 hour hike instead of the 3 hour route outlined in our book, we saw some pretty views and treated our selves to curry on the beach when we arrived in Stanley.

Ice Capades

Not sure if we've clearly explained where we live - which is on top of a mall. Among the malls fabulous features are seasonal and art exhibitions, a great noodle place, a Cartier, and an ice rink! We decided to see how well our ice skating skills held up . . . judge for yourself!
