The Destiny of the Goldfish

Goldfish are big business in Hong Kong. They are prized as they are thought to absorb any surrounding bad luck. As such, the trading floors where we both work have goldfish aquariums.

Sadly, when the goldfish absorb all the bad luck they can take, they die and are replaced with younger, better-looking and less demanding goldfish. And so the vicious cycle continues . . .

Below are some pictures from the goldfish market - note the hungry look in the eyes of the unadopted and unloved goldfish, ignorant of their fates.

Beware the Feral Pigeon

At a recent trip to Hong Kong's Bird Market, we encountered the set of signs below, warning of us of the dangers associated with the menacing feral pigeon.

Despite such zealous warning, we ignored our fears and enjoyed various fowl (no pigeons were encountered either).

The Office

Given the amount of time we spend in the office, thought it might be interesting if everyone got a looksie . . . above is Matt's office (also known as Chater House). In the glass, you can see a reflection of Jardine's House, more affectionately called the "House of 10,000 Arseholes" to celebrate not only the numerous round windows but the special individuals who have the privilege of working therein.

Below is a picture of Matt, posing with the House of 10,000 Arseholes, from one of the conference rooms in his building. And to think he could see Bear Stearns from his old office . . . watch out arseholes!!!!

Happy Belated Easter From Macau

Unfortunately, the Easter holiday crept up on us and we forgot to makes plans so we ended up doing a quick trip to Macau. Even more unfortunately, we arrived at the ferry and were about the "check-in" when we realized we forgot our passports. After resolving the issue and 2 hours later, we were finally on our way in the pouring rain. So instead of exploring Macau, we ended up walking around a couple of casinos and having dinner before returning to HK . . . perhaps the pics will be better next time . . .

Starworld Hotel Easter Hostesses

Even Friendlier

We were informed at check-in that the ladies were all dressed in bunny outfits in celebration of Easter . . . clearly, the religious significance got lost in translation.
